Rogue DNA to Demonstrate its Newly-Announced Suite of Passport Scanners, Printers, and UV Highlighters at the Intergraf International Security Printers' and Suppliers' Conference in Stockholm, Sweden, from May 13-15

VANCOUVER - May 6, 2009

Rogue DNA Inc, a corporation focused on developing highly-advanced non-invasive document security technology, today announced that it will demonstrate its new ICAO-compliant ePassport scanner, new ePassport and visa printers, and its recently-announced high-powered ultra-violet Cubes at Intergraf.

Rogue DNA's 6320 page scanner is the most powerful document authenticator available. It records the profile of a document's underlying characteristics (e.g. the fibre structure, UV pattern, ink patterns, etc.), such that any change to either the material or the content itself will be detected. Because RDNA technology doesn't add to or change the document in any way, a counterfeiter has no way of knowing where to look or what to look for.

Rogue DNA's 4100 Series of secure document printers are security Inkjet printers for printing passports, visas (in-book or on separate visa-size sheets), stamps, and other secure documents. The printers can print 4 visible and 2 invisible colors, and can optionally be equipped with an integrated RFID module for reading and writing RFID chips according to ICAO recommendations 14443 A+B. The newly-released 4130 printer includes RDNA scanner technology so that a passport's unique characteristics can be registered immediately after it's personalized. This can ensure that temporary replacement passports issued at overseas consulates are as secure as those produced centrally.

Rogue DNA's highly innovative LED-based UV Cubes are modular UV lights which can be configured in an array of one, two, or three Cubes. These offer ten, twenty, or thirty times the luminosity of conventional UV lamps so will highlight any UV content in a document in broad daylight or under normal office lighting. The Cubes can be handheld or mounted on a tripod for forensic use.

Rogue DNA's highly successful UV bars have now been integrated into Rogue DNA passport/visa printers, enabling a visual check to be made that any UV features have been printed correctly.

Rogue DNA technology is a quantum leap forward in the detection of counterfeits.

Keesing Reference Systems, Rogue DNA, and SPC Announce Partnership to Detect Counterfeit Passports, Driver’s Licences, and ID Documents

VANCOUVER - January 20, 2009

Rogue DNA Inc, a corporation focused on developing highly-advanced document security technology, has partnered with Keesing Reference Systems to provide a unique solution to the identification of counterfeit passports, currency, and driver’s licences.

Keesing currently provides all the information needed to conduct a quick yet thorough inspection of more than 1,800 passports, driver’s licences and ID cards, from over 180 countries. Keesing’s Documentchecker service is the most complete online database in the world for verifying passports, ID documents, and banknotes. Any document in the database can be displayed on a subscriber’s screen to provide an immediate visual check of what a secure document, such as a passport from a foreign country, should look like.

During passport production, Rogue DNA‘s ICAO-compliant document scanners uses its patent pending optical analysis technology to record each passport’s unique characteristics. When the passport is subsequently presented, it is rescanned and compared with the original. If they don’t match, the passport is counterfeit. If a passport is copied, the copy will be on a different piece of material, with a different pattern of characteristics. If a valid passport is modified, for example to change the expiry date, the change in the ink pattern on the paper will generate a different profile. This enables any country to authenticate its own passports.

The partnership with Keesing combines Rogue DNA’s physical authentication of a country’s own passports with Keesing’s visual check of foreign passports, providing a uniquely powerful means of detecting counterfeit documents. Keesing, Rogue DNA, and Zurich-based Security Printing Consultants (who are a partner of both companies) will all promote the resulting solution.

About Keesing Reference Systems

Rogue DNA to Demonstrate its New Passport Scanners at the ICAO Conference on Machine-Readable Travel Documents in Montreal from October 6-8

VANCOUVER - September 12, 2008

Rogue DNA Inc, a corporation focused on developing highly-advanced document security technology, will demonstrate its revolutionary non-invasive passport scanners at the upcoming International Civil Aviation Organization conference in Montreal.

The 6320 Page Scanner significantly extends the illumination of security features by enabling selected areas on the page of a passport or other travel document to be confirmed as original and unmodified. Highly compact, this device combines RDNA's unique material authentication technology with the ability to extract other information on the passport such as the passport ID, photo, MRZ data, etc, as well as read/write to a chip.

RDNA technology uses light reflectance at multiple frequencies to confirm that any document is the original. It does this by authenticating the unique three-dimensional composition of preselected areas of the actual piece of material. If a document is copied, the copy will be on a different piece of material, with a different composition. If the details on an otherwise valid document are changed, the reflectance characteristics will be altered and this too will be detected. Just as a human being can be identified from their DNA, so RDNA absolutely identifies any individual passport or other travel document from its unique characteristics.

At the ICAO conference Rogue DNA will also demonstrate its UV highlighter bars. These are five times more powerful than anything else available in the market today, so will highlight any UV content in a passport or other travel document in broad daylight or in a normal office environment. They can be handheld or attached below a computer screen, drawer, shelf, dashboard, etc, so need take no desk space.

CardTech/SecurTech Conference

Rogue DNA Presents Highly Innovative Counterfeit Detection Technologies at the CardTech/SecurTech Conference & Exhibition from May 13-15 in Orlando

VANCOUVER - April 29, 2008

Rogue DNA Inc, a corporation focused on developing highly-advanced non-invasive document security technology, today announced that it will demonstrate its new document authentication page scanner, and its high-power ultra-violet strip, at the CTST Conference and Exhibition in Orlando in May.

Rogue DNA’s newly introduced 6320 page scanner uses light reflectance at multiple frequencies to penetrate a document and detect its underlying characteristics (such as the fibre structure, ink pattern, etc.).  Being page-based allows individual areas anywhere on the document to be protected such that any change to either the content or the material itself will be detected.  Because RDNA technology doesn’t add to or change the document in any way, a counterfeiter has no way of knowing how to even start to beat it.

Rogue DNA’s highly innovative LED-based UV strips are five times more powerful than conventional UV lamps so will highlight any UV content in a document in broad daylight.  They are designed to attach below a monitor casing, drawer, shelf, dashboard, etc, so take no desk space.  They are extremely reliable and can cover multiple spectrums, unlike a UV tube.  Software protected, they are typically powered through 5v USB.

The UV strips can be packaged together in a unique complete solution with RDNA scanners as a complete solution against counterfeiting

Security Document World Conference

Rogue DNA to Demonstrate new Light-based Counterfeit Detection Technologies at the Security Document World Conference & Exhibition on April 22/23 in London

VANCOUVER - March 31, 2008

Rogue DNA Inc, a corporation focused on developing highly-advanced non-invasive document security technology, today announced that it will demonstrate its eagerly-awaited image-based document authentication scanner and its high-power UV LED-based strip at the SDW Conference and Exhibition in London in April.

Rogue DNA's newly introduced image scanner detects the underlying characteristics (such as the fibre structure, ink pattern, etc.) of any part of a specific security document. This allows individual areas of the document to be authenticated such that any change to either the content or the material itself will be readily detected. Rogue DNA's process is non-invasive, providing ultra-secure authentication without adding to or changing the document in any way.

Rogue DNA's innovative LED-based high-powered UV strips are designed to be attached below a computer screen, shelf, drawer, dashboard, etc, so take no space at all. They are also available in a hand-held unit. Being LED-based the strips are extremely reliable and can cover multiple spectrums, unlike a UV tube. They are software protected (with a programmable user interface), are long-lasting, and are powered through a 5v USB or an external power source.

The UV strips can be packaged together with RDNA scanners as a unique complete solution against counterfeiting.

Rogue DNA to introduce the extension of its Advanced Document Authentication Technology to a totally new Image Analysis Page Scanner at the PISEC 8th Global Product and Image Security Convention from November 19th-21st 2007, in London

VANCOUVER - November 8, 2007

Rogue DNA Inc, a corporation focused on developing highly-advanced non-invasive document security technology, today announced that it will demonstrate its new document authentication products at the PISEC Conference and Exhibition in London, UK.

Rogue DNA enables the detection of any counterfeit by identifying the unique characteristics of the material at the microscopic level, rather than adding something to it such as a watermark, magnetic strip, taggant, etc, which can be replicated. Rogue DNA uses multiple, safe, light frequencies, and optimizes these to any type of material.

Rogue DNA will demonstrate its patent-pending technology and introduce the use of its material authentication technology for brand protection. This focuses on label/tag authentication, as well as Track & Trace, and offers a unique and totally secure means of detecting counterfeit products without changing the product itself in any way.

All of this is complemented by the introduction of Rogue DNA's leading-edge static page scanner with image analyzer technology, which can authenticate any existing security document without adding to or changing it. While usable for virtually any counterfeit-detection application, the technology in this device is at the core of Rogue DNA's brand protection product line.

Rogue DNA technology is a fundamental leap forward in the detection of counterfeits.

Rogue DNA to Present Session on Material Authentication, and introduce a totally new Static Page Scanner with Image Analyzer technology at the Intergraf International Security Printers' and Suppliers' Conference in Nice, France on October 11, 2007

VANCOUVER - September 24, 2007

The Board of Directors of Rogue DNA Inc, a corporation focused on developing advanced document security technology, today announced that the company's Chief Operating Officer, Iain Drummond, will present a paper on "The Document's Own DNA as the Ultimate Authenticator" at the Intergraf conference in Nice on Thursday October 11th.

This presentation will focus on the detection and prevention of counterfeits by identifying the unique characteristics of the material at the microscopic level, rather than adding something to it such as a watermark, magnetic strip, taggant, etc, which can be replicated.

At the accompanying exhibition, Rogue DNA will demonstrate its technology and introduce the use of its material authentication technology for brand protection. This focuses on label/tag authentication and offers a unique and totally secure means of detecting counterfeit products without changing the product itself.

Rogue DNA Announces Release of Ultra-Secure Multi-Frequency Document Scanner

VANCOUVER - September 6, 2007

Rogue DNA has significantly expanded its counterfeit detection technology by introducing a multi-frequency scanhead which uses different types of light individually or in any combination.

Rogue DNA document and plastic card scanners use nano-based optical/electronic technology to identify the three-dimensional composition of a selected area of a document. As the structure of the material at the particle level is a totally different pattern for every document, RDNA can provide absolute security in a manner that is non-invasive and inexpensive to implement. If a document is counterfeited, the copy will be on a different piece of material, with a different pattern. If any aspect of the information on a valid document is changed after registration, this will also be detected. Because the process is non-invasive, existing documents do not have to be replaced - they can be registered when next presented in a verifiable environment.

The introduction of multi-frequency scanning enables an organization to optimize the scanhead to use those frequencies which generate the best response from each of its documents, thus ensuring that any counterfeit can be readily detected.

Rogue DNA to Launch Ultra-Secure Non-Invasive Authentication Technology for ID Cards at the CardTech/SecurTech Exhibition

VANCOUVER - April 5, 2007

Iain Drummond, Chief Operating Officer of Rogue DNA Inc., a corporation focused on advanced document security, today announced the extension of its authentication technology to plastic cards. This will be demonstrated at the Rogue DNA booth at the CardTech/SecurTech Conference & Exhibition being held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from May 15 - 17.

Rogue DNA's authentication technology confirms that any paper, card, or plastic document is the original by identifying the unique characteristics of the actual piece of material at the nanotechnology level. Any counterfeit will be on a different piece of material and thus be readily detectable. In the case of plastic cards the technology works with all types of card including bank cards, ID cards, access cards, drivers licenses, social security cards, etc.

Rogue DNA's technology and products are packaged both as complete scanners and as OEM modules which can be integrated within an existing product such as a magnetic stripe, OCR-B, or biometric reader. All units are ultra-secure, non-invasive, easy-to-use, and economically attractive.

Rogue DNA Inc. Announces Highly Secure Approach to Passport Authentication

VANCOUVER - December 2006

Rogue DNA has announced the application of its nano-technology-based RDNA document authentication process to the challenge of ensuring that the passport presented by any individual was originally issued to them, and is not counterfeit.

RDNA scans, encodes, and encrypts the underlying 3-D structure of a predefined area of the actual material used in any individual passport. The randomness and enormity of the fibre pattern, together with the effect of the inks, photograph, etc, generates a profile which is totally different for each passport and cannot be replicated. By generating this profile when the passport is issued, at any time in the future the process can be repeated, the profiles compared, and the authenticity of the passport confirmed. A copy or counterfeit will not be accepted as the material will generate a totally different profile. The RDNA system scans the area containing the two OCR lines, together with a third scan across the photograph and the holder’s name.

Because the RDNA process does not require special inks, watermarks, strips, etc to be added to the paper, it is straightforward to add to an existing passport application. Both the hardware/firmware and software have been specifically designed to be easy to integrate. Unlike all alternative protection methods, a new passport does not have to be issued when RDNA security technology is introduced. As long as the current passport can be confirmed to be genuine, it can be scanned and its profile added to the passport database on the spot.

RDNA Passport Authentication overcomes the weaknesses in current document security technologies, enabling passports and other documents to be absolutely authenticated in a totally non-invasive manner.

New Technology Profiles Substrates for Authentication

Three Dimensional Analysis

Canadian-based Rogue Digital Alarm Network Inc (RDNA), a new enterprise headquartered in Vancouver, BC, has introduced an authentication system that identifies documents based on their unique surface characteristics. The patent-pending technology, also called RDNA, was developed with the assistance of the National Reseach Council of Canada. It utilises advanced sensing technology that detects the unique three dimensional structure of substrates in a predefined or selected area, analyses it and then, using the proprietary algorithms that underpin the technology, encodes it into a unique digital profile. Because the process uses the unchangeable characteristics of the material, it is completely non-invasive and no marks, inks or other extraneous identifiers are required.

Instant Matching

The profiles of each scanned document are stored in a database, with the scanning, profiling and encoding process taking 1-2 seconds. Reprofiling the document – ie. scanning it and matching its profile to that in the database – is virtually instantaneous, and can be repeated at any time to confirm the document’s authenticity. The system is reported to work well on materials that are ‘reasonably’ dirty, damp or creased, and the chance of two different documents having the same RDNA profile is 1 in 1060; this, says the company, is virtually impossible. The RDNA system’s readers can be provided as a stand-alone unit, a hand-held unit or can be manufactured to customer specifications to fit within existing reading devices. They can also include multiple scanning heads that profile and subsequently read different sections of documents.

The database in which the profiles of each document are recorded can either be RDNA’s own, held on a local server, or the customer’s, as long as it is OBDC-compliant, with RDNA supplying the requisite software as part of the package. According to RDNA, the system provides a proactive and unbreakable security shield for documents including currency, with no added costs to the production process.
